The presentation slides of the rich music players showcase

I've uploaded the slides of the rich music players showcase that I presented at the Adobe User Group meeting yesterday.

For obvious reasons, I can't give access to Tunify, the professional dj application. However, I've made a quick little screen capture to give an idea about what it looks like: demoTunify.exe (24Mb). Also, here are the links to some of the Web radio's / mood players that were demo-ed too:

A golden lesson that I've learned about giving presentations is that you always need to make a screen capture of online applications because the presence of an internet connection in any conference room is never to be trusted. The screenshots I prepared for the worst case scenario were a bit of a sad comfort, but according to the audience, I managed to keep things interesting enough.

To complement the technical explanation about the music scheduler in Tunify,
I have 2 links that I want to share:

For those who weren't there yesterday evening, check out this blog post to see what you missed ;-) . There's a fair chance that the next Adobe User Group meeting will be at ONE Agency's office, so I hope to see you there then. Pascal and I will be talking about the wonders of PureMVC (allthough I'm actually a Cairngorm enthousiast).

After the presentation, many people came to me and thought it was sad that SABAM (i.e. the Belgian assembly of authors, musicians and editors) doesn't seem to have a reasonable solution concerning the selection and distribution of streaming music over the internet. At least not for individual consumers of music. I can imagine that this issue is hard to address, given the existing laws protecting music and taking into account the commercial position of the record companies (represented by the IFPI). Moreover, there's the problem with the medium internet being worldwide and legislation being country-specific. Nevertheless, businesses like Aristo Music are waiting for (international) laws that make it possible for people to enjoy the new possibilities of distributing digital music over the net. Aristo Music has roots in the academic world, maybe also a great solution for the protection of the rights on streaming music might come from there. Enough food for thought about the music of the future...
